April 2015
By virtue of the fact that you are reading this, you are a prospective member of Verse-Virtual.  How — you might ask — can one be a member of an online literary journal?  That's a good question.  And I will answer it as briefly as I can...

I started writing poems about eight years ago.  It wasn't long before I looked for a way to share them.  I found some 'peer review' websites — sites where people post their poetry for free — and I joined a few of them.

After about six months of posting my poems on these websites I decided to start my own poetry journal.  I did this by inviting some of the poets whom I had met on the peer-review sites to join with me.  These poets were then the regular and only contributors to V-V.

After another six months or so I changed V-V into a more formal type of literary journal.  I advertised for submissions and got quite a few.  Most of my original poets remained with me as regular contributors.  So, altogether I had about eighteen poets whose work I published for the first monthly issue of
V-V.

That was in June 2014.

As V-V grew, I began to feel the need to provide a warmer atmosphere for poets and readers.  Warmer than a regular literary journal could offer.  I started encouraging those whose poems I published to communicate with each other.  Specifically, I asked them to read the other authors' poems — and then, when they came upon poems which moved them — to write to the authors and tell them so.

Such a simple thing turned V-V into a new experience.  It became a community where poets interact with each other — and with readers who write to them.

At this point V-V is a both a journal and a community.  Here you will find interesting, clearly-written, and easy-to-understand poetry.  You will find poets who are eager to know you.  And.  If you want to, you will find community.

Welcome to Verse-Virtual.
